Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is an exciting national program that has been implemented at Satchel Ford over the last few years. We have been very encouraged by its success and the positive impact it is making in our school. We encourage all fathers and father-figures, including step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, cousins, etc. to participate. We are only asking for you to donate one school day the entire school year to serve as a positive male role model for students and provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. Come be a hero for the day!

Braves Buddies is an academic initiative that pairs a volunteer with a first grader needing extra help in math. No math expertise is needed, just an ability to work with basic math concepts (such as single digit addition and subtraction, like 5+5=10). The tutoring takes place during school hours, but volunteers can choose the time/day of week. Our program begins in the fall and finishes by early May.
Lunch Buddies are parents or grandparents who are each matched with one student for the school year. They meet twice a month in the cafeteria during the student's lunch block for 30 minutes. We can work around your schedule if there is a particular time of day that is more convenient to meet. Our goal is to develop self-esteem and life skills through interactions with a positive adult modeling purpose and potential.
